Youth Advisory Council Showcase

Throughout this summer, the Courage Museum’s inaugural Gen C Youth Advisory Council convened to help shape the museum’s programs, installations, and public engagement strategies. They prototyped ideas, interviewed friends and family, and worked closey with the museum’s education team to ensure our work is informed by the lived experiences and leadership of youth, particularly those from communities most impacted by hate and violence.

Event Details

On August 16th, the Courage Museum’s inaugural Youth Advisory Council hosted a special showcase, guiding visitors through the museum’s galleries and unveiling the prototypes they developed over the five-week summer program. Leveraging design thinking tools and processes, students shared their concepts for reimagining the museum’s retail store as a platform for activism and storytelling; designing an educational center that encourages self-expression and foster belonging; and creating healing outdoor spaces, interactive reflective journals, and an engaging digital museum experience. Attendees also experienced original posters inspired by stories from the Empathy Mirrors exhibit, as well as an inspiring Changemakers soundtrack. The showcase was a powerful reminder of the insight, passion, and imagination young people bring to building a more courageous and connected world.
